Look at that cover, isn't it gorgeous? Simple, yet I love it, I really do. It conveys so much about the story. Vishstudio(Andrei Vishnyakov) has to be my favorite photographer of all time. I will blow all my money on buying his images and not use them right away. I already have twelve or so saved on my computer and nothing to use them for yet. His photo is also the male torso on my site by the way. I spent a couple of hours making this cover and the covers to the books that will come after it. Lemme tell you how this thing came to be.
First off, I hate when a single book suddenly becomes a series. Characters whisper and start stirring the creation pot in my mind and shushing them doesn't work. Soon plot bunnies start forming and poof! It's become more than one story. All the while I sit and think, "I don't need to start another series. I haven't even wrapped up the other ones I wrote yet." Muse doesn't listen, muse doesn't care.
Anyway, my latest WIP, One Night with the Devil is done! Woohoo! *throws confetti* It is 15k over my projected goal. *throws confetti again* I'm sitting it aside for a week or two, looking at it with editorial eyes and digging deep to fix any noticeable bloopers before I send it off to my editor. Then from there I'll be able to hopefully get a confirmed release date.
So you're probably wondering about this mystery series and that damn gorgeous cover right? Well, One Night with the Devil is no longer, One Night with the Devil. It is now Scathe and it is the first book in my Sovereigns of Sheol series. Book two might be the fastest release followup to a series I've ever done. Because you know what... book two has already been written and has been sitting collecting dust on my hard drive. Yep, that story has been completed since 2012. Of course since it's now a fresh face for my new series I'll have to edit the crap out of it, change names and some plot things but it fits perfectly into Sovereigns of Sheol. It's funny how this all played out. During the last few typed conversations with Lucifer (he's the hero in Scathe) he mentioned Beelzebub and Asmodeus. If you don't know they are fellow Princes of Hell (7 in total). I figured what the heck, I'm writing abut Lucifer, what about a few more? I told myself no, just change the name if you want, make a new cover. That's it. Then bam! My old story bubbled up and it was like the über-demon in that story suddenly stood in front of me. He tapped his foot, crossed his arms and said, "Uh, yeah, you can put me there. I'm long overdue for the release you promised me woman." I felt a little bad for abandoning him, he is to date my favorite male lead that I've ever written. Of course I have to change his name which I'm a little sad about but I'll mend.
There's an archangel in Scathe and he'll play a big part in book two as well, then he'll get a short story after book two before I finish the series off with one more novella. Four works in all, three novellas, one short, and two already written. *fist pump*
So what about those other covers and titles? Well, I don't like giving too much away too soon and if I did, there would be nothing to surprise you guys with later. Sooooo I'm sitting on them for a bit until it's time to show them off. So get ready, Sovereigns of Sheol are headed your way.
